    Eskandar Abadi was trained at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Tehran.  In the 1980s he continued his studies in Linguistics and Political Studies at the Universities of Frankfurt and Marburg. In 1997 he obtained a PhD in General and Germanic Linguistics with a thesis on auctoriality and narrative perspective in Thomas Mann's novel Der Zauberberg. His publications include a monograph on the Wolfgang Bergsdorf's concept of power and language (Marburg 1985) and a revised version of his doctoral thesis with the titleErzaehlerprofil und Erzaehltechnik im Roman 'Der Zauberberg' - Eine Untersuchung zu Auktorialitaet und Perspektive bei Thomas Mann (1998).
