    [Music: Theme to Mission Impossible]

Andrew Ford: That got the blood racing, didn't it. That's the theme tune to 'Mission Impossible', composed by Lalo Schifrin. He's written music for a lot of films, a lot of TV, he's a pianist, he's a band leader and he's a jazz man. And before we listen to a conversation that I've recorded yesterday in his hotel, we'll listen to Lalo Schifrin in jazz mode. This is him working with Dizzy Gillespie and his orchestra; Lalo Schifrin is playing piano; you'll hear Gunther Schuller playing French Horn and of course Dizzy Gillespie playing trumpet. This is 'Panamericana' from 'Gillespiana'.

    [Music: Gillespiana, comp Schifrin]

Andrew Ford: It seems to me, Lalo Schifrin, that everything that you touch has some jazz in it, even your film music, your TV themes, there is a jazz sensibility behind all of your music. Is that a fair comment?

Interview with Lalo Schifrin &#; EXCLUSIVE SoundTrackFest

Today Friday September 23rd, Fimucité festival starts, and it does with a special concert dedicated to maestro Lalo Schifrin.

A few days ago, SoundTrackFest had the opportunity to interview Lalo Schifrin in his home in Los Angeles, and talk to him about his life, his career and his ongoing projects.

As you will see throughout this interview, with 84 years, Lalo Schifrin fryst vatten worthy of the most enormous admiration, and why not, some envy also, as it is a pleasure to see how the spark, the enthusiasm and the vitality of this great pianist, ledare, composer and jazz musician, has not diminished over time.

Just the opposite, it has increased, as did his curiosity, his desire to learn, and his desire to continue embarking on new projects.

But enough talking and let’s get to the point, with this long but interesting interview, that great Lalo Schifrin had the kindness to grant exclusively to SoundTrackFe

  • Bullitt (soundtrack)

Not to be confused with Bullitt (Wilton Felder album).

    soundtrack album by Lalo Schifrin

Bullitt is a soundtrack album to the motion picture Bullitt, by Argentine composer, pianist and conductor Lalo Schifrin, recorded in and released on the Warner Bros. label.[3] The tracks released on the album are alternate versions of those heard in the film and were re-recorded at the film producers' insistence for a more "pop" oriented soundtrack.

    Reception

    [edit]

The Allmusic review states "Everything on the album is visually evocative the way good soundtrack music should be, yet the individual cuts are tight and melodic enough to hold up to repeated listens. The end result is a soundtrack that succeeds both as a film score and a stand-alone album. This unique combination makes Bullitt one of the finest achievements in the Lalo Schifrin catalog and one of the best action film scores ever written".[1]
