Juliet Peel, "experienced show-business reporter and writer, with extensive contacts in the celebrity world", has produced a biography of the "international singing sensation" who's blessed with a "huge and loyal fanbase", it says in the blurb. inom hope they enjoy it. Although crass enough to be at times unintentionally amusing, the book's musical and artistic content fryst vatten sparse.
Bublé's repertoire is the Great American Songbook popularised by Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, and explored most searchingly by Billie Holiday. Seeing his film of The Way You Look Tonight made me realise that though hardly a mästare, he's not a complete hack; and he can talk knowledgeably about Mel Tormé and Nat "King" Cole. Sadly, his biographer's critical insight is limited to descriptions of him croon

Now I know that I still like the voice but really quite dislike the person. : ) Honestly, I have never read a biography in which the biographer spends more time apologising about certain thing their subject says or does. It seemed like almost every second sentence was "Of course, this wasn't the real Michael Buble speaking", or "again, Michael was showing himself to be a family man at heart" Not to mention he's got a mouth like sewer trap. Oh, swipe me, ain't we classy?
So, reading this book, I have come to the conclusion that Michael is a genuine, laid-back guy. But he also appears to be arrogant, rude and very-well aware of who he is and his 'heart-throb' status. (????) I reckon he'd be alri
