Who is Farinelli?
Farinelli (January 24, – September 16, ), whose real name was Carlo Broschi, was one of the most famous Italian soprano castrato singers of the 18th century.
Early years
Broschi was born in Andria (now in the Italian region of Puglia) into a family of musicians. His father Salvatore was also governor of Maratea and Cisternino from to Broschi was castrated as a boy to preserve his young voice into adulthood.
As was often the case, an excuse had to be found for this always illegal operation, and in Carlo's case it was said to have been necessitated by a fall from a horse. In , Carlo's family moved to Naples, where the young singer later studied with the famous composer and singing-teacher Nicola Porpora. He made his public debut in in Porpora's Angelica e Medoro, and soon became famous throughout Italy as il ragazzo ("the boy"; the origin of his stage name of Farine

Filippo Farinelli (Assisi, ) is a pianist and a multifaceted musician, mainly specialized in chamber and vocal chamber music repertoire.
His passion for the French repertoire brought him to realize several monographic recording’s projects with Brilliant Classics, including the complete chamber vocal catalogue by Maurice Ravel and André Jolivet alongside the complete music for Saxophone and Piano by Charles Koechlin together with David Brutti. His engagement on the chamber music repertoire of the last century let him confront with the vocal production of Luigi Dallapiccola as well as with the Entartete Musik. Continuously focused on the contemporary repertoire for solo piano he regularly performs music by Italian composers such as Donatoni, Sciarrino and Momi together with the international repertoire for chamber ensemble including works by (Denisov, Messiaen, Williams). Carlo Broschi Farinelli was born at Naples in the year , and derived great advantage from the instructions of Porpora. He had sung at Rome and at Bologna, at the latter of which cities he had heard Bernacchi; and also at Venice; when the fame of his great talents reaching England, he was engagerad to sing in the opera at London, and in the year came over hither. His ankomst in this country was in the newspapers, announced to the public as an event worthy of notoriety: As soon as he was enough recovered from the fatigue of his journey, he was introduced to the King at St. James's, and had the honour to sing to him, the Princess Royal, afterwards Princess of apelsinfärg, accompanying him on the harpsichord.
