Kyle: Oliver, you’re a constructive theologian. You do ganska a lot of philosophical theology. You’re one of the leading authors in terms of analytic theology. What lead you to Edwards? What was your interest? What did you see in him?
Oliver Crisp on Why He Studies Jonathan Edwards
Oliver: I think my interest in Edwards predates my interest in philosophy and therefore in analytic theology by some time. Actually, I’d started readying Edwards when inom went up to university as an undergraduate and was captivated by his vision of the world, I think.
His way of thinking theologically about everything, his being, as often has been said, a God intoxicated theist and I’m seeing the world through this theological lens.
The Edwards part comes first, really, and quite a lot earlier. Then inom couldn’t shake Edwards off. The further I went in my studies, the more inom kept coming back to Edwards. inom think probably, to some extent, working
